This is the passenger car without platforms from the King Ludwig-train. This motorized passenger car is intended to be used with the King Ludwig-train, if the train is operated with the unmotorized Tristan locomotive. As you can see on the figures, the car is coupled with a simple wire hook. The wire hook is suitable for push- and pull-operation in all radiuses and on all track switches. At the other end, the original coupler has been maintained. Since all the cars and the Tristan locomotive are made out of metal, the train has a very heavy weight which makes it impossible to attach all the available wagons at once since all together they have too much weight to be pulled by the ghost car. The undercarriage is dimensioned as big as possible and made completely out of metal, also the body is made with a lot of metal - all this helps to amplify the tractive power, but still the weight of the complete train is too heavy for a motorized ghost car. At the moment, we are trying to find a solution by constructing further motorized ghost cars that then can be employed together with the present passenger ghost car.

The motor built in is a bell-shaped rotor motor from Maxon with the special feature of a 12 volt winding. Thanks to this, the traction system in connection with the established gear mechanism can work with a slowness corresponding to the original. With the controller turned up completely, the maximum speed reaches a converted value of approximately 70 km/h. The centrifugal mass provides for constant running characteristics and can bridge short breaks in the current supply. The current is collected with all 4 wheels.

The body cannot be taken off because the car is agglutinated on its four corners. If you want to build in a digital decoder, this has to be announced when you order, then the model will come with the body loosely enclosed. With this, the 12 volt motor can operate at its maximum power. The maximum speed does not have to be limited or only has to be limited a little bit, thus providing much better control characteristics in the lower range of the decoder.

Due to the high cost of the material and the partial external production, it is possible that the model has to be ordered in advance and that the delivery will take some time. In order to have your passenger car from your King Ludwig-train converted into a motorized ghost car, we kindly ask you to have the wagon delivered to us through your local dealer.
