5020 Turning platform propulsion with a ironless motor

Who does not have a turning platform on his train facility. Since it is from the beginnings of the track gage Z-history, its propulsion is still a little bit noisy.

But now we can help:

We exchange the existing motor for a high quality bell-shaped rotor motor made by Maxon. This becomes possible thanks to a special cogwheel fitting the transmission system of the turning platform. The retaining fixture for this is new and made with our own CNC-milling cutter. The propulsion set is fitted by milling works on the rear panel of the propulsion unit underneath the movable platform. Then, only the two motor wires have to be soldered to a new place, and before screwing the body back on, a special sound proofing against unnecessary motor noise is being inserted into the body - that is already all about the remodeling.

The best of all this is that the turning platform, or better the tray itself, can stay where it is because we don't need it for the remodeling. We only need the movable platform. It is fixed with a retaining washer behind a round plastic cover which is accessible from the bottom side. Remove the washer by pulling or pushing it out with a screw driver, then the movable platform can be taken off. Send it to your local dealer by registered mail and we will do the remodeling. There is no need to change anything on the tray, on the tracks, or on the control system itself, so we do not need any of those.

Compared to the way it did before, the turning platform now runs slowly and without making much noise. The turning speed and thus also the noise can be further reduced by a small electronic component, we built in, near the motor, compare art-no. 5021

The reason why we attach so much importance to a slow turning corresponding to the original and most of it to a low noise level is that soon we will be able to equip the turning platform with a sound decoder reproducing the typical noises of a turning platform in operation. This will most likely be possible for digital and especially analogue operation!! More information coming up soon.

If you want us to do the remodelling, after previous arrangement send your platform and, if applicable, the blue control box in suitable packaging via registered mail to us or to your local dealer. Since these are technical services, we can estimate and tell you the approximate date of completion, but this will be without obligation.

The same work we offer for the transfer table for the same price, Art-Nr. 5021. More details soon.
