This is the well-known Gbrs 253 of the DB (German Railways). This motorized boxcar is intended to be used with all the locomotives that do not have a motor built in by the manufacturer. As you can see on the figures, thanks to the novel wire coupler hook, the car can be operated with the old Railex models, mainly the KÖF II, just as well as with newer products e.g. of the manufacturer Schmitt in Hameln. The wire coupler is suitable for push- and pull-operation in all radiuses and on all track switches. The wire coupler should couple with any coupler ring of or similar to those of the old Railex models. At the other end, the serial coupler has been maintained.

The motor built in is a bell-shaped rotor motor from Maxon with the special feature of a 12 volt winding. Thanks to this, the traction system in connection with the established gear mechanism can work with a slowness corresponding to the original. With the controller turned up completely, the maximum speed reaches a converted value of approximately 70 km/h. The centrifugal mass provides for constant running characteristics and can bridge short breaks in the current supply. The current is collected with all 4 wheels. The undercarriage is completely out of metal and dimensioned as big as possible, so the tare weight is quite heavy. The tractive power is sufficient for the usual branch line and switch trains.

The body cannot be taken off because the car is agglutinated on its four corners. If you want to build in a digital decoder, this has to be announced when you order, then the model will come with the body loosely enclosed. With this, the 12 volt motor can operate at its maximum power. The maximum speed does not have to be limited or only has to be limited a little bit, thus providing much better control characteristics in the lower range of the decoder.

Due to the high cost of the material and the partial external production, it is possible that the model has to be ordered in advance and that the delivery will take some time. The model will be delivered by us with everything included, traction system and freight car rebuilt, and ready for use.
